Custom Brushes

  • Created a custom brush from an image
  • Altered brush presets: angle and jitter
  • Masked out elephant feet to have them appear as if they are really standing in the water

Softening Portraits

  • Used quick healing tool for blemishes
  • Used burn tool to darken shiny spots
  • Softened skin by selecting the face, gaussian blur at 20px 40% opacity, revealed eyes, nostrils and mouth to create flawless looking skin while facial features still stand out

Colour Correction

  • Used adjustment panel levels to level the red, green and blue channels to remove colour casts
  • Used adjustment panel curves to alter highlights and shadows

Vanishing Point

  • Cloned windows in perspective using the vanishing point tool

Blur

  • Created movement with blur
  • Created depth of field with blur
  • Shifted the focus with blur
  • I have also learned how to use:
    • Radial blur
    • Iris blur
    • Field blur
    • Tilt shift – creating a miniature effect
    • Lens corrections: perspective, vignette and distortions

Sharpening

  • Transformed photo into smart object before sharpening as sharpening pixels is distructive
  • Reduced noise before sharpening as sharpening creates noise
  • Sharpening makes small details really stand out, so I sharpened after doing my other edits like stamping and healing to remove seeds on the snow

Healing a ripped photo

  • Selected each ripped piece separately; each on their own layer first
  • Merged them onto one layer after tilting them into place
  • Used quick healing brush and clone stamp to heal rips
